Every cell in your body has the information it needs to make a complete person - specifically the information it needs to make you. The tiny differences between you and another person, such as the colour of your eyes, your height, and the shape of your face, are contained in this code. This information, a genetic code, is stored in a complex structure called DNA. Half of our DNA comes from one of our biological parents and the other half comes from the other biological parent. Sometimes our DNA might contain the code for a disease - code that we have inherited from our biological parents and that we can possibly pass on to our children. Right now, the science community is working hard to understand how we can use this knowledge to treat these diseases.

For science to work out a cure, it needs a large amount of information from the general population. It takes very little effort to provide your genetic material - usually all that we need is a cheek swab or small blood sample - and this is stored safely inside a very highly advanced storage facility called a Biobank.

While your genetic material is stored safely and securely, you have control over how it is used. By logging into the Dwarna portal you can choose which areas of research you would like your information to participate in and, should you change your mind for any reason, you can even withdraw your consent at any time.

In time, when there is enough information from the population, the science community can develop cures that will be used for future generations. The road ahead is long and complex so chances are that our generation will not benefit from these cures but we are all contributing today to a healthier future. Our efforts today could improve the health or even save the lives of children who have not yet been born.
